革製品の製造販売を行うブランド「CRAFSTO」のショップ兼工房のインテリアデザイン。古くから革製品の問屋が多く集まる浅草橋駅近くに位置する建物の1、2階の改装計画である。「CRAFSTO」は天然素材由来のヴィーガンレザーを使用する等、環境に配慮した製品を積極的に生み出している。その思いをインテリアデザインとして表現できないかと考えた。
1階にショップ、2階に工房を設け、もともとあった吹き抜けを介して緩やかな繋がりを感じる計画とした。1階の陳列棚の背面壁のために、破棄予定となっていたレザーの端材を再利用したオリジナルの左官仕上げを開発。5mm角に裁断したレザーと左官材を混ぜたものを壁面に塗りつけ、硬化する前に表面の左官材を拭き取ることでレザーの模様が特徴的に現れた仕上げとした。扉の取手はサボテンからつくられたヴィーガンレザーを輪っか状に固定し、店舗に入る際にその肌触りの良さを体験できるものとなっている。ベンチや柱の仕上げにもヴィーガンレザーを使用し、空間全体でブランドの世界観を体感できる仕掛けとした。

Interior design for CRAFSTO, a brand dedicated to manufacturing and selling leatherware. Located near Asakusabashi station, Tokyo, known as a town of many leatherware dealers, the first and second floors of a building were renovated into their shop/workshop.
CRAFSTO actively creates environmentally friendly products by using vegan leather made from natural materials. Therefore, we decided to explore interior design expression that reflects such a philosophy.
With a shop on the first floor and a workshop on the second floor, the project makes the most of the original atrium to loosely connect these spaces. For the wall behind the display shelf on the first floor, we developed our original plaster finish that reuses leather scraps that were initially to be disposed of. Tiny leather pieces cut into five-millimeter squares are mixed into plaster and applied to the wall. The plastering material is wiped off before hardening, resulting in a distinctive texture with a leather pattern. The door handle is vegan leather made from cacti fixed into a loop, allowing visitors to experience its smooth texture upon entering the store. Vegan leather is also used on the finishes of the bench and the pillar. Thus the design of the space is dedicated to offering an experience of the brand's personality.
